My name is Alsu Kouki Amri — I am an artist-time traveler, a free experimenter
My works contain notes of nostalgia, but that’s not the main thing that unites them. The central theme is a focus on my own history, the history of my lineage, a retelling and reinterpretation of heritage, and my own role in the here and now

Through the study of artifacts of the Soviet past, I am in three dimensions at the same time: in the present — here and now in my studio, in the past — through contact with the medium, in the future — comprehending and imagining the result of my actions
In my work, the process of interaction with the material and its possibilities is very important. I choose real Soviet treasures as a basis for my works because they have a soul. Working with these artifacts, I feel support from the past
I turn to a huge layer of our heritage, I work with archival photographs, papers, texts. With great love I explore the past through material, I strive to use the resources of⦁those times, the power and energy that the bygone era contains
I turn to the destinies of people whom I did not know and saw only in photographs, each time having an internal dialogue, rethinking social roles over time, value systems and attitudes to life

Each work in the series is a composition of several elements that evoke a variety of associations and have a wide range of connotations
Exhibition "Elusive Moment"
"Elusive Moment" series tackles memory, reflection on the past, and the brittleness and fuzziness of memory. Alsu breaks up her earlier artworks into pieces and builds new compositions by mixing painting and graphics and piling objects on top of one another. To demonstrate what a person leaves behind and how one can work with this material, the works — elusive moments and memories — are reworked and reinterpreted
